I am Indigo Garcia, an indigenous freelance lighting designer based in New York City, NY.

I enjoy the continuous discovery that comes with being a lighting designer, finding new ways to evoke emotion and a sense of wonder through transforming a space while telling new and engaging stories. I love that every empty stage or room is a blank canvas, there are an endless amount of stories to tell and I am excited to be a part of the magic and discovery in bringing those new stories to life. I seek to make joyful theatre and though not all stories are full of joy; I wish to make community in theatre and find joyful experiences on the teams I work with. I am passionate about work that uplifts artists and creates opportunities for marginalized voices. I find the collaboration of lighting and music as partners in sculpting time and space a part of the work that excites and interests me. I am interested in many types of performance ranging from musicals, plays, operas, dance, and other live entertainment.
